Digital Library Search Tips
- Case Sensitivity: All searches are case insensitive.
- Searches for church will return occurrences of both "church" and "Church".
- Phrase Searching: To find an exact phrase, put the phrase in quotes.
- Searches for "doctrine of baptism" will return articles with that exact phrase, but not articles with just the terms "doctrine" and "baptism" in them.
- Wildcard / Truncation: To find all variations on the same word you can use * either at the end of the search term or in the middle.
- Searches for moff* will return items that include words that start with "moff".
- Searches for trea*e will return items with all words that start with "trea" and end with "e".
- Field Searching: To find terms within a specific field, preface your search with the field keyword.
- Searches for author:hodge will return all items with an author by the name of Hodge.
- Searches for title:barth will return items with the name Barth in the title.
- Searches for year:1849 will return everything written in the year 1849.
- Punctuation: Searching without punctuation increases your chances of finding name variations.
- Searches for b b warfield will find "B. B. Warfield", "Benjamin B. Warfield" and "Ben. B. Warfield".
